When I engage in a creative endeavor, I’m committed to being in it fully — as an artist, mama, and professional. I bring my true heart and soul into the mix, building beautiful experiences where everyone can shine.
Roots & Future
My love of innovation was established as a radio/club DJ, fostering community at the epicenter of San Francisco’s underground dance music movement going worldwide. I expanded into producing an array of music & marketing experiences for film & TV projects in Hollywood, then transitioned into tech by leading global programming for Xbox Music & Video at Microsoft. Drawn to its remarkable culture, the art & science of building human-centered software became my jam as a product manager with Seattle studio Substantial.
Across these chapters of my professional life, I’ve explored the power of embodiment and the potential of human evolution. I produced Landmark Education’s trailblazing Communications courses with their Team Management and Leadership Program, became a certified yoga teacher, and trained with Tantra practitioners. In 2021, I’ve continued my studies in somatic abolitionism and indigenous wisdom. My ongoing collaborations with the dance music community as DJ GriffinGrrl continue to enrich my creative heart.
With my new consultancy Emily Griffin & Co, I offer creative leadership, bringing operational excellence and culture design to teams who want to re-energize their work and deepen their bonds so they can innovate with a renewed sense of purpose.
Music Magic
As a fiery catalyst for creative collaborations in dance music culture spanning cities, genres & experiences, my roots go back to the 90s Los Angeles rave scene. I then came up as DJ Ms.E in San Francisco, founding host of KUSF’s program FutureBreaks.FM, and the influential club night Eklektic. My passion for positive, music-driven media fueled my explorations all aspects of the business — from XLR8R Magazine to Xbox Entertainment, vinyl and digital record labels, film & TV sync licensing, plus countless live performances Stateside and beyond. Known for my magnetic, uplifting sets, I now DJ as GriffinGrrl in Seattle representing beloved local crews Uniting Souls and LOST.
